Dune Figure, 2024

Clay, granular paint
5" x 8" x 4.5"

Working with clay is indeed a return to earth. Along with stone, clay is the oldest substance in existence. It is foundational. One can literally pull a handful of clay from the ground and begin to create. Add fire and behold a work of art. The process is primal. The act is sensual. Clay’s texture naturally creates soft lines and hollows as manipulated by the human hand producing figures of peace and rest for the maker and viewer alike.
