The rich and vibrant palette predominantly composed of vivid red tones serve as the canvas’s background. Intermittent splashes and strokes of contrasting colours, such as white and yellow, create a dynamic interplay on the surface. Some of the shapes, particularly a prominent white rectangle and a sizeable ochre form, draw the observer’s eye and establish focal points within the overall abstraction. The brushwork suggests a blend of control and impulsiveness, indicating a purposeful but expressive approach to the creation of this painting. Inspired by our stay in Naramata, B.C. when the fires surrounded us the skies were unusually red hot and beautiful.
